Biography

A visionary in integrative and empowered healing for body, mind, and spirit

Dr. David Foster is Certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology in Psychiatry and Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, and is board certified in forensic psychiatry. His training journey spans across distinguished institutions like Loma Linda University, the University of Southern California (USC), and the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). Additionally, he pursued advanced studies at the Jung Institute in Zurich and studied under renowned psychologist Jean Piaget at the University of Geneva, Switzerland.

Background and Training:

Dr. Foster served as a Clinical Instructor of Psychiatry at Harvard Medical School and co-developed the first Harvard Symposium on Family Therapy. He also taught at Boston University's Family Practice Residency before moving on to become Hawaii's Chief of Children's Mental Health. During his tenure, he led a team that pioneered innovative "wrap-around services" and preventive interventions, laying the groundwork for far more effective and cost efficient comprehensive care. Dr Foster is convinced that, if these innovations were more consistently applied to the crisis in our current health delivery system, they would significantly improve health outcomes and cost effectiveness nationwide.

In Northern California he applied his experience in assisting in the development of a Children's System of Care at the county level, which integrated children's mental health with education, child protective services, and juvenile justice under one umbrella.. His integrative approach bridges brain-behavior relationships through neuro-biofeedback, nutrition, and traditional and non-traditional medical interventions.

Forensic Psychiatry and Media Presence:

His expertise in forensic psychiatry led to consulting for the Center for the Study of Violence and Violence Prevention at UCLA-Drew University. Dr. Foster's forensic evaluations of numerous murderers helped uncover insights into the root causes of violence. He consulted in high-profile cases like the Oklahoma City Bombing and appeared on television, sharing his experiences with the Unabomber and the Freeway Murderer.

Transforming Lives:

Dr. Foster channels his clinical psychiatric and therapeutic experience into innovative approaches to transform abandoned and abused children. His highly anticipated book, Transforming Traumatized Children, exemplifies his dedication. Alongside Dr. John Finnick, he is creating training modules to teach others how to replicate their success.

Future Directions:

To have a broader impact, Dr. Foster is mentored by some of the world's most successful entrepreneurs and innovators. Under their tutelage he is developing an online platform to provide youth with access to valuable insights from top performers. This initiative aims to help them align with life-enhancing values and build the skills required to become leaders and creators of abundance.

Co-author:

Everyday Techniques to Overcome Anxiety: and Mental Health Struggles

Complex childhood onset Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) is one of the more challenging of the anxiety disorders to live with as a child and as a caregiver. Dr. Foster's chapter in the book Everyday Techniques to Overcome Anxiety and Mental Health Struggles is titled Transforming Traumatized Children. The chapter gives an overview of what is elaborated in the book he is writing, which provides foster and adoptive parent a deepened understanding and practical techniques to assist them in their challenging and rewarding role in facilitating the transformation of the abandoned, neglected, and traumatized children in their care into safe, healthy, happy, productive citizens.

Advancing Energy Medicine:

Exploring energy medicine, he studied quantum physics and Nikola Tesla's innovations to harness ambient energy. This exploration led him to re-examine ancient Hawaiian energy healing practices and delve deeper into the science behind Huna traditions.

I had the privilege of meeting Dr. Foster while doing some personal training and development work. We quickly became fast friends and now colleagues. Every time I meet with Dr. Foster, I learn something new. Dr. Foster is not just a friend but a brilliant Integrative Health Consultant and BrainBehavior Specialist. One time, I shared with him how forgetful I can be. Without hesitation, he explained that I was not effectively moving information from short-term to long-term memory. We delved into a fascinating lesson about memory, and how to improve it, that truly opened my eyes. This is a two-way street; we have built a camaraderie that is priceless. Testimonials

Dr. David Foster has been a colleague and friend for the past 30 years. We met when we were both attending psychiatrists at a psychiatric hospital. I was quickly impressed with his fund of knowledge, his excellent psychiatric care of patients and his compassionate attitude toward everyone. We continued our professional and personal connection into our respective outpatient practices. One of the most remarkable aspects of Dr. Foster is his teachability. Despite a wealth of experience and qualifications, he continues to have a thirst for knowledge and skills to help his patients. He is open to new ideas and practices, avoiding the common tendency of practitioners to get rigid and narrow, sticking with what has worked in the past. This attitude of life being an adventure and his commitment to provide the best psychiatric care is why Dr. Foster is a role model of mine. It will be no surprise, therefore, that when one of my children needed psychiatric care, I turned to my friend and colleague, David Foster. I encourage everyone to take in what he has to say, since it is assured to be valuable.

Testimonials

I have been working with Dr. Foster for my kiddo for awhile now and have seen immense improvement in his growth, mindset and behavior. Dr. Foster has supported, encouraged, taught and helped my kiddo grow in ways I thought would be much more difficult for him. Dr. Foster uses outlets that really help my child to connect with him and helps him open up, such as walking in nature during meetings and playing foam swords for breaks and it has shown me even more ways to help him in his progress. I appreciate Dr. Foster more than any words can express in all that he has helped my kiddo grow and learn and I look forward to continuing our journey with his support.
